Dimensions
33″ wide X 23″ deep x 31″ tall
Origins
France, Napoleon III / Second Empire, c.1860-1880, Louis XV Revival
Materials
Giltwood, marble top
A French console table from the Napoleon III period, made in the Louis XV style. The giltwood base features a shaped apron with carved floral and scroll details, cabriole legs, and an X-form stretcher with a carved center ornament.
The table has a beautifully aged gilt finish, with warm patina, rubbed highlights, and traces of red bole showing beneath the gilding. The shaped marble top adds elegance and complements the movement of the base.
Refined but not overly formal, this console would work beautifully in an entry, hallway, salon, or behind a sofa. Its open form keeps it light, while the giltwood and marble give it a classic 19th-century French presence.
Condition
Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, including rubbing and minor losses to the gilt finish, visible patina, and light surface wear to the marble consistent with age and use.
