We would like to spotlight this lovely pair of Art Nouveau glass candlestick holders we have at our Houston shop.
They were handcrafted by renowned heritage glassmaker Daum France, based in Nancy. Founded by brothers Antonin and Auguste Daume in 1878, their business flourished during the Art Nouveau movement of the late 1800s. Their designs played heavily on nature-inspired works, and the natural world was a key focus of the Art Nouveau movement.
Today, Daume France is a highly prestigious and respected glassmaker for its continued tradition of crafting exceptional glass and crystal art.
Our Daume Candlestick Holders
Our Daume candlestick bases have a starfish-inspired flowing shape, and what makes them lovely is how each of their unique designs complement one another as a great pair. Daume France’s coveted glass and crystal masterpieces are each handcrafted via the traditional pâte de verre glassmaking technique, which makes use of molds.
While molds are a commonly used method of mass-producing items, pâte de verre molds are special because they must be broken off once the glass has cooled and hardened. Artisans handcraft every unique pâte de verre mold used by Daume France, and they truly are works of art.
Our candlestick holders both have “Daume France” hand-engraved at their base, and one also has its original “Daume France” sticker.
