Featured Furniture at the shop – a new Table à Vigneron
Back during our Spring 2024 buying trip to France, we acquired a very special table à vigneron. Six months later and a trip across l’océan Atlantique, it’s finally arrived in our Houston shop!
What exactly is a Table à Vigneron?
The literal translation of table à vigneron is “winemaker’s table.” Historically, these wooden rustic tables were used for tasks related to winemaking, such as tasting wine, sorting grapes, and communal meals in the vineyard during harvest time.
Traditionally crafted with a rotating trestle base, their tilt-fold design made them easy to store in the stone cellars where the wineries mature their wines in barrels.
The winemaker’s table available in our Houston shop
We acquired our table à vigneron in Bourgogne, France, and this fine specimen’s provenance dates back to the late 1800s. With its large oval top, measuring 63” across its longest length and 46″ across the shorter length, it can comfortably seat 4, and will look great in any breakfast nook or used as a kitchen table.
The four accompanying Louis XV-style upholstered side chairs are also available at our Houston shop.
Come take home this fine piece of French winemaking history before someone else does and you become grape with envy!
