Around the Shop – “Place des Vosges” Painting
I’d like to share this fantastic framed oil painting of the Parisian square Place des Vosges that just arrived at our Houston shop. It’s by French artist Guy Legendre, who is a French Postwar and Contemporary painter, born in 1946. We sourced this piece from a flea market in the south of France, and it’s framed and ready to hang in your home.
About Place des Vosges
The Place des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris. It was commissioned by King Henri IV in 1605 and was completed in 1612 (he reigned from 1589 to 1610). The square is a beautiful example of one of the first public building projects in Europe.
One of the things I most love about Paris is how timeless the city is. Here’s a photo taken today in the identical spot from which Monsieur Legendre framed his painting.
This beauty is sure to catch an eye quickly, so take it home before someone else does!
